This is the Camera Simulator. It allows you to practice exposure settings and see how they affectthe picture without getting out a real camera. Today I'd like you to practice with Camera Shake andISO. Camera shake is something we've talked about, but ISO is new. Please do the following andwrite your answers on down. We'll discuss them later.
.Set the Camera Simulator to Shutter Priority, Mostly Sunny, Distance 7.5 ft, Focal Length 55mm,and ISO to 200. Now adjust your shutter speed. How does the FOCUS in the picture look at 1/4thsecond? At 1/15th second? At 1/60th second? At 1/500th second?
.How fast does the shutter speed need to be to prevent camera shake?
.How fast does the shutter speed need to be to freeze the motion of the spinning pinwheel?
.Now check the box that says Use A Tripod. How slow can you go with your shutter speed and stillfreeze the girl's movements?
.Now switch the Camera Simulator to Manual Mode. Keep all settings the same as above exceptset Aperture to f/10 and shutter speed to 1/60th second. We'll be adjusting ISO. What does thepicture look like at ISO 100? At ISO 200? At ISO 400? At ISO 6400?
.Now set shutter speed to 1/4000th second and ISO to 6400. How is the picture's EXPOSURE (toobright, too dark, just right)? Can you notice any defects in the picture's quality?
